UX for Software Engineers: Keeping It Simple

I love public speaking, and I was lucky enough to get a recording of one of my better talks in October 2015. This was presented to a small group of my coworkers, in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of simplicity in product design.

More about me

I've worked in many disciplines over the years, including interface design, virtual reality, 3D data analysis and visualization, artificial intelligence, multimedia (both as a programmer and a graphic designer), hardware input device prototyping, ubiquitous computing and wireless sensor networks, web application development, retail house paint sales at Sears, and all manner of duties as a part-time hardware store employee. If you need someone to create a good user interface, then mix your paint and cut and thread some pipe, I'm your man. Steel pipe or PCV, I can do it all.

I moved to Boulder, Colorado for graduate school in 2001, and have been living in the area ever since. You can reach me at carlson@colorado.edu.
